Portrait_01My name is Alasdair Fowler. Born 1982 in Sheffield, England. I currently live in Newcastle upon Tyne in the North East of England working as a Digital Arts and Media Technician at Northumbria University. I am a recent disciple to the Art of photography. I have been creative for most of my life, as well as being interested in technology, so photography has turned out to be the missing link in my life. With Photography I have found the ideal combination of creativity and technical knowledge. Although I have only been doing Photography since April 2007, I have already become obsessed by it, having won several competitions, exhibited both locally and internationally and worked as an event photographer for SHG.

My work varies a lot, covering wildlife, landscapes, portraits as well as other subjects like airshows and fashion shows. However my main interests lie in two distinct styles or genres; Namely insect macrography and Duotone long exposure seascapes. These two genres are very different in both appearance and technique. Insect macrography is often quite frantic and exciting, whereas long exposure seacapes require a much slower, more considered approach. I think both of these techniques work well together and help to keep both interesting.

As my work covers such a variety of styles, I use a range of equipment and lenses. At the moment I use;

Nikon D300
Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 HSM
Sigma 30mm f1.4 HSM
Sigma 150mm f2.8 Macro HSM

Sigma 300mm f2.8 HSM
