Photography Equipment for the Pacific Crest Trail
As soon as we decided to thru hike the Pacific Crest Trail, I know that I would need a new camera system. Although my Nikon Pro DSLR setup is great to use and produces good image quality, it is also far too heavy to lug over 2650 miles. Today was another Pacific Crest Trail training day. We loaded the packs up to nearly full weight (mine was 23kg and Sarah’s 13Kg). I added 2 metal plates on mine to get the weight up to simulate a weeks worth of food. Continue reading
Pacific Crest Trail 2012 Thru Hike!
In anticipation of our 2012 Pacific Crest Trail Thru hike, the website has now gained an ‘adventures‘ section. This will feature blog entries for anything related to adventures big and small. Photography may be the passion, but in order to create the art I need to get out there and see the world. The adventures section is dedicated to placing oneself in places and situations that may lead to great photos. Rosthwaite to Keswick via Catbells
Today we headed off to the Lake District with mum and dad for mum’s birthday. It was also a good test of our equipment and practice for carrying heavy packs up steep hills. We parked in Keswick and caught the 78 bus up Borrowdale. We started in Rosthwaite and headed up towards dale head. The first couple of miles were steep and took us past old slate mines. We stopped just before the top of the col for some lunch. Continue reading
